My name is Ricci Simmonds, and I am 30 years young. I am a mum to a fearless 2-year-old boy, a wife to my devoted husband Jake (who is also my videographer) and a passionate photographer specialising in weddings, equine/dog and family photos.
My love for photography started when I bought my very first DSLR camera in 2011. I used to take photos of the horses at college and anything else I could. I still have that camera to this very day.
In the last few years, since becoming a “proper” photographer, I have been fortunate enough to train with fantastic event photographers. Through this, I have photographed British Show Jumping, British Dressage, Showing Championships, Riding Clubs, Pony Clubs, and British Eventing, including photographing at THE Burghley Horse Trials XC and Blaire International Horse Trials.
My love for horses stems from my childhood. I was lucky enough to own my own horse for a few years, a lovely mare called Lilly. I sold her due to a career change, but she still remains in the most amazing home today.
I first started wedding photography when I was asked to cover a local registry office wedding, which ultimately got me hooked. I bought new camera gear, attended numerous courses run by top wedding photographers in the country, and watched countless hours of YouTube tutorials to better understand this very expensive camera I had bought. I offered my services, starting from the bottom and building my way up to where I am now.
I have worked hard and invested in myself and my gear because I LOVE what I do. I capture one of the most important days of a couple’s life together, and the photos are some of the main images you will look back on all your life. There isn’t another job I wish I was doing, and that is when a job isn’t a job at all.
